I truly believe people come to therapy seeking happiness…believing they will be happy “if” and “when” something or someone comes into their lives, and as corny as it might sound, happiness is not contingent on ANYTHING. You have the ability to be happy in each moment. Simply by deciding to be present. Unhappiness is rooted in the past and future. It is rooted in the ways in which we convince ourselves to THINK about everything.

Happiness doesn’t mean that things are perfect, or that you can’t keep striving, or that you can’t have goals…but it does mean that you accept what does happen…who stays or leaves…or the cards that you are “dealt.”
