Nashville, TN 🗣️ Let’s break the stigma.
Unfiltered Minds: An open mic for your mental health.
Unfiltered Minds is an event where you can share your story, your struggles, or just sit in a room where vulnerability is actually welcomed.
It’s not group therapy or doom and gloom. I made this so there could be more spaces where talking about mental health is more appealing and seen as cool.
We talk about mental health… but how often do we actually practice being open?

Sharing mental health experiences openly is a powerful way to build understanding and reduce stigma. Events like Unfiltered Minds create a unique safe space where people can express their struggles and triumphs through personal stories. This approach transforms the typical perception of mental health discussions from being taboo or heavy to something approachable and even 'cool.' From personal experience, attending such open mic nights allows one to connect with others who understand the often isolating feelings that come with mental health challenges. The act of listening alone can be healing, as it fosters empathy and breaks down misconceptions. When you hear others openly talk about their journey, it encourages you to embrace your own vulnerability rather than hide it. Incorporating supportive resources, like those from NAMI Nashville, strengthens the event’s impact by linking attendees to professional help and educational materials. Additionally, thoughtful touches like a grazing table and letters of hope add warmth and community spirit, making the event inviting for first-timers and regular guests alike. Breaking the stigma surrounding mental health requires collective effort. By supporting events hosted by people traveling nationwide to facilitate conversation and connection, such as the Unfiltered Minds initiative, we help normalize mental health openness. This not only benefits individuals but gradually builds a culture where seeking support is seen as strength instead of weakness.
