One highlight was the Old Town White Coffee Experience Centre, a spot not just for a great cup of coffee but also for immersing yourself in Ipoh’s coffee culture heritage. The venue’s combination of modern hangout vibes and historical atmosphere made it especially memorable.
Book lovers should not miss BookXcess Kong Heng. Its unique setup in a former bank vault and the little exhibits add a fascinating touch to the traditional bookstore experience. It’s a perfect respite if you want to enjoy some quiet time exploring books in a venue rich with history.
As for food, Ipoh’s culinary scene offers a diverse menu that caters to all tastes. Jun Japanese Cuisine impressed me the most with its quality and authenticity, earning a solid 9/10 in my ratings. Guan Heong Biscuit Shop also stood out with its delicious traditional biscuits, reflecting the city's sweet heritage.
While I enjoyed the Ipoh Night Market, it felt a bit quiet on a Monday night with fewer stalls open. If you plan to visit, the weekend might offer a livelier atmosphere and a fuller taste of the local nightlife.
Overall, Ipoh is a fantastic destination for those interested in a mix of culture, history, and flavorful food. Whether you’re wandering through markets, trying local coffee, or relaxing in unique cafes, Ipoh creates a welcoming vibe that encourages you to explore and discover your own favorites. If you’re planning a short getaway full of authentic Malaysian experiences, Ipoh should definitely be on your list.
