Eye of Sauron!
37 pieces.
Designed, cut, and foiled in under 24 hours — which is a first for me.
Then came the part that makes or breaks the whole project…
Assembly.
Laying everything out piece by piece, checking edges, making tiny adjustments, and trying not to force anything.
Because if it doesn’t line up here… it’s only going to get worse later.
There’s always that moment where you’re not sure if it’s actually going to come together.
And then suddenly… it starts working.
This one is the Eye of Sauron 👁️🔥
Part of my Zero → Stained Glass Artist journey.
For anyone who’s done this before —
does this part ever stop being stressful?

From my own experience in stained glass art, the assembly phase truly is the most nerve-wracking yet rewarding part of the process. When I first started, laying out each piece carefully and making sure the edges lined up perfectly felt like walking a tightrope — one wrong move could make the whole design falter. It’s essential to stay steady and avoid forcing any pieces, as forcing often leads to cracks or misalignment that only worsen through later stages. One technique I found helpful is to dry-fit all pieces multiple times before foiling and soldering. This not only reassures you that everything fits but also lets you identify areas that may need slight trimming or reshaping. Often, the moment when "everything begins to click" is a joyous breakthrough—when you realize that the numerous tiny adjustments are working together to bring the design to life. Patience is key during this stage. The Eye of Sauron design, with its 37 pieces, demands precision and calm. I’ve learned that rushing assembly only increases stress and errors. Taking breaks, stepping back to review your progress, and sometimes even re-laying pieces helps maintain focus and quality. Additionally, good lighting and a clean, organized workspace significantly ease this meticulous process. It’s fascinating how the beauty of stained glass emerges gradually, piece by piece, culminating in a glowing masterpiece once light passes through. If you’re starting out or advancing in stained glass art, remember that each project is a learning journey. Even when assembly feels stressful, it’s also what transforms separate fragments into stunning artworks like the Eye of Sauron. Embrace the challenge and enjoy the magic of creation unfolding in your hands.
