pelvic floor trends you need to ditch

2025/12/28 Edited to

... Read moreAs someone who has navigated postpartum recovery personally, I quickly realized how confusing the information out there can be—especially on social media where influencers often promise quick fixes. One major trend I fell into was the belief that a few specific exercises could magically resolve issues like mom pooch, leakage, or diastasis recti. Unfortunately, healing the pelvic floor and core isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey. It demands a progressive and personalized approach that respects your unique body’s needs at each stage of recovery. I also learned the hard way that cues like "tuck your tailbone" during core exercises are not always beneficial, especially early postpartum. This direction can actually engage the wrong muscles and increase pressure on the pelvic floor, potentially delaying healing or even worsening symptoms. What helped me most was focusing on relearning how to gently engage and relax my pelvic floor in harmony with all kinds of movements, not just isolated exercises. Another trend I’ve seen heavily promoted is using general postpartum programs that worked for someone else, often an influencer. But every woman's recovery looks different; having a baby doesn’t automatically qualify someone to guide others through recovery safely and effectively. It’s crucial to seek guidance from trained pelvic floor physical therapists who understand the complexity of postpartum healing. Finally, the idea that certain exercises like bridges, bird dogs, or hip circles alone can prepare your pelvic floor for labor misses the bigger picture. It’s about teaching your pelvic floor to function well throughout all activities and learning how to relax it during labor. For anyone recovering from pregnancy or struggling with pelvic floor issues, my advice is to approach your healing journey with patience and the support of qualified professionals. Ditch the trends that promise quick fixes and focus on sustainable progress, guided by expert knowledge tailored to your body’s needs.

How you sit, affects how you think
Your hips still feel tight, uneven, or “stuck” even if you stretch? It’s not just physical. Sitting for long hours creates asymmetry in the hips, and your nervous system stays in a low-grade stress state. Over time, that can affect your pelvic floor, posture, and contribute to brain fog and that h
