Healthy girls read 🫶

For the last decade, I let the number on the scale define me.—nine years ago, I started my five-year vegan journey and lost over 60 lbs. I felt amazing, but if I’m being honest, I did it because I wanted to be skinny.

I eventually realized that people wanted to be my friend because of what I posted on social media and how I looked—not because they actually knew me for who I was. That number on the scale controlled me and messed with my mental health.

But something clicked. I’m not worried about that number anymore. Now, I care more about being healthy—so my kid never has to feel the pain of watching a parent get weaker or sicker due to poor life choices. My new goal is to live a long, healthy life—for them, and for myself.

Some things about my lifestyle today:

• Yes, I still eat in a “calorie deficit”—not to be skinny, but because I feel awful when I overeat or binge eat.

• I prioritize protein and fiber because that’s what my body needs to feel good.

• Yes, I’ll eat a regular cookie—not the no-sugar, gluten-free, preservative-free version—because I’m not depriving myself anymore. One cookie isn’t a failure, and I’m done feeling ashamed or turning to binge eating because I “messed up.”

• One day of not hitting your goals is NOT a setback.

I’m posting this to hold myself accountable. 💛
