After an incredible trip, I can confidently say that our September adventure to the Big Island of Hawai’i was truly unforgettable! It was a perfect blend of natural beauty and culinary delights, making for a truly memorable travel recap. This variety is what makes it such a unique destination for any traveler seeking adventure and relaxation combined. Our days were filled with chasing waterfalls, and it was even better than we imagined! We started with Rainbow Falls, easily accessible in Hilo, where we were lucky enough to catch a rainbow in the mist. Then, we ventured to Akaka Falls State Park, a truly majestic sight with two stunning waterfalls cascading into a gorge. It's a short, paved loop trail, offering incredible photo opportunities. For anyone visiting the Big Island, these are must-sees. The sheer power and beauty of these natural wonders are breathtaking and a highlight of any Hawaii visit. And the food! Oh, the food was definitely epic. We made it a point to try as many local specialties as possible. Fresh poke bowls became a daily obsession – so much fresher than anything you can get on the mainland. We indulged in delicious kalua pig at a local luau, savored sweet and refreshing shave ice (a perfect treat after a day of exploring), and tried some incredible tropical fruits I’d never seen before. Don't miss out on exploring the local markets for the freshest produce and unique snacks. Every meal felt like an experience in itself. Beyond the waterfalls and delicious food, the Big Island offers so much more. One of the absolute highlights for us was visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. If you're planning your trip, consider that the best time to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park can vary, but evenings often provide the most dramatic views of any glow from Kilauea's crater. We went during the day and were awestruck by the vast volcanic landscapes, steam vents, and solidified lava fields. It truly feels like walking on another planet. We also spent time relaxing on the famous black sand beaches, like Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, where we even spotted some sea turtles basking in the sun – a truly magical experience! Snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay offered crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. These varied experiences truly encapsulate "what is in Hawaii" for many visitors. So, is Hawaii good to visit? Absolutely!
