Idk why no one is talking about this... but if you're not cleaning your red light devices correctly AND consistently, it could be making your skin worse! And double whammy if you are using it over occlusive skincare or skin that is not clean.
🧽 How to clean your red light device:
Unplug it first.
Wipe the inside with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with:
70% isopropyl alcohol or a gentle,
A gentle, fragrance-free disinfectant wipe
Focus on high-contact areas: nose, chin, forehead, straps.
Let it dry fully / 10 minutes before next use
⏰ How often to clean your device:
Clean each surface on each device at least once a week
Keep it in a cool, dry place and inside a storage bag/container if possible!
Look, I know this is an extra step, but the consistency of care is JUST as important as the quality of the device!

When I first started using red light therapy devices, I wasn't paying much attention to cleaning them regularly. I noticed that after a few weeks, my skin started breaking out more, which was confusing since I believed the therapy was supposed to improve it. After doing some research and adjusting my routine to clean the device properly, I realized how essential this step is. I always unplug the device first to ensure safety, then gently wipe down all surfaces that come into contact with my skin, especially the high-contact areas like the nose, chin, and forehead. Using a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol or fragrance-free disinfectant wipes works best to remove oils, dirt, and bacteria effectively. I also make sure to let the device dry completely for about 10 minutes before using it again to avoid any skin irritation. Cleaning once a week has become my standard, and I now store the device in a cool, dry place inside a storage bag, which helps keep it hygienic between uses. This simple care routine has made a noticeable difference—my skin feels clearer, and I’m confident the therapy is helping rather than harming. If you combine the therapy with occlusive skincare products or use it on skin that isn’t clean, it can trap oils and bacteria against your skin, potentially worsening conditions like acne or irritation. So, cleaning the device consistently is just as critical as the quality of the red light device itself. For anyone exploring red light therapy, I highly recommend incorporating this cleaning routine. It’s a small effort that protects your skin and maximizes the benefits of your skincare regimen.
