“That’s interesting” is my way of saying "let’s unpack the science before we jump to conclusions"... aka stay professional. 🤣
What's a myth, mystery, or conflicting advice you've seen on social media that you wish someone who was ACTUALLY qualified would answer once and for all?
It's me, I'll answer it - a Double Board Certified Dermatologist with 15 years of experience. ☺️

Navigating the abundance of skin care advice on social media can be overwhelming, especially when conflicting tips and myths circulate widely. As a dermatologist, my approach is always to say "that's interesting"—it’s a respectful way to acknowledge claims before carefully examining the scientific evidence behind them. One common example I encounter is the misconception that certain skin care ingredients are universally harmful or beneficial. The truth is, skin care is very personalized. What works wonders for one person may irritate another. That’s why it’s important not to jump to conclusions based on one-size-fits-all advice. Another real-life challenge is managing expectations around product results. Social media often highlights dramatic transformations, which can mislead people to expect quick fixes. In my 15 years of practice, I’ve seen that consistent, evidence-based routines bring the best outcomes over time. When faced with contradictory advice, consider the source and whether the information is backed by scientific studies or clinical experience. As a Double Board Certified Dermatologist, I emphasize the importance of consulting qualified professionals who can tailor recommendations to your unique skin type and concerns. Lastly, embracing a mindset of curiosity rather than immediate judgment—saying "that's interesting" instead of outright "that's wrong"—can encourage open, constructive conversations about skin health. This approach fosters learning and helps dispel myths more effectively.
