God is not like man.
The Trinity is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. They are represented by faith, hope, and love in 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV) “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” You can pursue one, but not the other. You can have a strong knowing or firm grip on one and be lacking in another. For example, I’ve learned to live without an expectation that God would do what He said. This is not because I didn’t believe He spoke the truth. It’s because I’ve learned people will supposedly speak the truth and then change their mind, or do the opposite of what they said they would. People will renege on their promises. So I translated love they said they had for me, to love God said He had for me. I gave them a way out to change, so I expected God would also need a way out. I learned by my experiences with humans, love needs a way out or a stopping point. God showed me His concept of love is unending. It knows no bounds. It doesn’t look for reasons to stop. It actually can’t stop. Even if I refuse His love that doesn’t stop His heart from loving me. Unlike people, God is also unchanging. Who He was yesterday is who He is today and who He will be tomorrow. With this revelation, a change has to occur in me that I release the belief God is like man. So yes it’s possible to believe God spoke the truth when you heard what He said because that’s faith. You can also believe God loves you and know you love Him. Love is the greatest of the three, but it’s only one part of the three. Even with both faith and love, you still could have little to no expectation God will manifest what He spoke. For expectation is hope. And if people have taught you not to hope, you won’t easily place hope in God, despite your belief in Him and your love for Him. When people say they love you, it’s not the same as when God says He loves you.
