I’m in a ✨Depressive Episode✨

I had a lazy day today. Went to bed early last night, woke up late this morning. My son played independently almost all day long, allowing me time I needed to effectively rot.

I have bipolar 2 disorder. The difference between bipolar 1 and 2 is that bipolar 2 has less intense mania, and sometimes more frequent depressive episodes. So our highs are less high, and our lows may come around more often.

I posted a couple weeks ago about my technique of decentering myself and that’s the day that I started feeling low. I haven’t quite managed to come back up yet, but I’m holding out.

Anyone have any tips for pulling yourself out of a depressive episode?! I’d love to hear them!

... Read moreExperiencing a depressive episode can feel isolating and overwhelming, especially for those with bipolar disorder. It's essential to understand that reaching out for support is a crucial step. Community support groups, online forums, or even talking to trusted friends can help alleviate feelings of loneliness. Consider incorporating self-care practices such as gentle exercise, meditation, or journaling into your daily routine to help uplift your mood. Often, small activities can make a significant difference during tough times. Additionally, maintaining a supportive environment at home is essential. Encourage loved ones to be patient and understanding as you navigate through your feelings. Creating a daily routine can also provide structure, making it easier to manage day-to-day tasks. Remember, it's okay to seek professional help if feelings of depression become too challenging to handle. Therapists and counselors can provide valuable coping strategies tailored to your unique experiences and needs. Always know that you are not alone in this journey—many others share similar experiences and are willing to support you. Embrace vulnerability and strength as you move towards healing.

Hi! So I'm currently being diagnosed with bipolar 2! What I do to pull myself out of my lows is I allow myself to take a break. I lay in my bed if I can and I allow myself to feel, yk? I don't usually talk to anyone because I don't want to bring down their mood

When you’re in a depressive episode, everything can feel heavy, numb, or hopeless. Getting out of it isn’t about “snapping out of it”. it’s about taking small, loving steps toward yourself, even when it feels hard. Start by doing one small thing. drink water, take a breath, open a window. These

Gentle Ways to Care for Yourself
If you’re in a depressive episode, please hear me: you are not alone. I know how heavy it feels when even brushing your teeth or drinking water feels like too much. People love to say, “just get up and move, you’ll feel better,” but when your body and heart feel weighed down, it isn’t that simple.
