When I first embarked on reading the Bible with a focus on Jesus in every book, I was amazed at how interconnected the Scriptures truly are. Understanding that Jesus is not just in the New Testament but is present throughout the Old Testament—through prophecies, promises, and symbolic types—changed the way I read every passage. For example, Genesis 3:15, often called the protoevangelium, hints at the coming Redeemer who will crush evil, laying the foundation for everything that follows. Isaiah 53 vividly portrays the suffering servant, describing Jesus’ atoning sacrifice centuries before it happened. Recognizing these prophecies deepens faith and brings new appreciation for God’s consistent plan. Another way I found helpful is paying attention to types and shadows. Passages about the Passover lamb in Exodus show Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice protecting His people. The temple rituals in Leviticus and the role of priests reflect Christ’s perfect mediation for us. These symbolic connections helped me to see Scripture as a living story pointing to Jesus, not random laws or stories. In daily reading, I began to notice how Jesus fulfills the Law and the Prophets, explained in the New Testament (Luke 24:27, John 5:39). This approach made Bible study more meaningful and joyful because every book had a part to play in revealing Jesus’ purpose and the hope of salvation. It’s a transformative experience that deepens faith, encourages discipleship, and nurtures a closer relationship with the Savior.
