Trying to set us up for a smoother summer over here 😭☀️
Not in a “every second needs to be structured” kind of way…
More like a “Mama likes having options ready” kind of way 😉
I’ve been slowly grabbing things to keep the boys engaged this summer:
• workbooks
• water paint books
• coloring + creativity stuff
• books
• easy activities for restaurants/outings
Nothing groundbreaking. Just little things that remind the milleninial in me of the kind of summers we used to have growing up. 🥹
What’s one thing you’re doing to make summer feel a little more intentional this year? ☀️

As a mom looking to create a smoother summer experience, I’ve focused on preparing flexible, low-pressure activities that encourage creativity and engagement. Rather than packing every minute with structure, I find that having a variety of options ready—like workbooks, water paint books, and simple coloring projects—allows kids to explore and enjoy their time at their own pace. One thing I've learned is the importance of balancing planned activities with spontaneity. For example, keeping easy-to-carry materials for outings or restaurants helps avoid frustrating moments while still keeping the kids entertained. From my personal experience, having an array of creative tools on hand not only sparks imagination but also reduces screen time and fosters meaningful moments. Another tip is to bring back the spirit of slower childhood summers that many millennials cherish—where the emphasis was more on exploration and less on rigid schedules. This can be as simple as dedicating afternoons to reading books together or encouraging kids to experiment with water paints outdoors, soaking in the sunshine. In addition, incorporating small, intentional touches like journaling what they enjoyed each day or asking them what new activity they’d like to try helps children feel involved and excited about summer. This intentional motherhood approach helps create beautiful, stress-free memories and meaningful family connections. Ultimately, having diverse, manageable activities available creates a nurturing environment where kids feel engaged and parents feel prepared, making summer enjoyable for everyone involved.
