I’m not guessing with postpartum hair loss

Postpartum hair loss is one of those things that no one really prepares you for. It’s a lot! But trust me it’s temporary. During pregnancy high estrogen levels prevent the hair from shedding. After child birth hormones levels plummet and the accumulated hair sheds all at the same time. Postpartum telogen effluvium usually starts around 3 months and can last 6-12 months. You can’t fully prevent it but you CAN optimize your re-growth period.

These are the things I’m using to support my hair and stimulate regrowth:

@currentbody Hair Helmet - I use it everyday to help stimulate scalp circulation which increases oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. (discount code DRCHISOM)

Scalp massager - Improves blood flow to the scalp when done consistently and has been shown to increase hair thickness

@CÉCRED Hair and Edge Drops - I’ve been using this for awhile and I’ve noticed a difference in my edges already.

@amika Mirrorball shampoo and conditioner as a gentle hair care combo.

@Perelel Pre/postnatal vitamins. Nutrition is very important. Continue your prenatal vitamin to support your diet, especially if you’re breastfeeding.

... Read morePostpartum hair loss can be overwhelming, but understanding the science behind it helps manage expectations and care routines. The key factor is the rapid drop in estrogen levels after birth, which leads to a shedding phase called postpartum telogen effluvium. This can last from 6 months to a year, but the good news is that hair regrowth is very much achievable with consistent care. One important technique I’ve found helpful is red light therapy. This method uses specific wavelengths to penetrate the layers of the scalp, reducing inflammation and directly stimulating hair follicles to promote new growth. Complementing this with daily scalp massage significantly improves blood circulation, bringing vital oxygen and nutrients to the areas that need them most. In addition to mechanical stimulation, nourishing the scalp environment is crucial. Using peptide-enriched serums supports hair follicle health by strengthening existing hairs and minimizing breakage. Alongside topical treatments, a gentle hair care routine using antioxidant-rich shampoos and conditioners helps protect hair shafts from environmental damage and keeps the scalp healthy. Nutrition plays a foundational role as well. Continuing prenatal or postnatal vitamins supports iron, vitamin D, and calcium levels, which are essential for new hair growth, especially during breastfeeding. Omega-3 supplements like DHA and EPA further support cognitive and beauty aspects during postpartum recovery. Practicing patience during this regrowth journey is vital, as every individual’s cycle varies. Incorporating evidence-based tools like red light therapy with consistent, nutrient-rich care routines can dramatically improve hair density and scalp health over time. Remember, you aren’t alone on this path and taking thoughtful, informed steps can restore both confidence and hair vitality.
