Hike to Hollywood Sign🌿

So my husband and I are starting to go sightseeing and hiking. We started doing this so we can be more active and get our steps in and to also enjoy what nature has to offer. On today’s morning hike / date, we came to the Hollywood sign. I have lived in So Cal my whole life and have never really explored much. I have been to LA but never really explored it. It was nice sharing this experience with my husband as it was both of our first time being up and close to the sign. Fun fact: did you know the city is actually HOLLYWOODLAND

... Read moreMy recent hike to the Hollywood Sign with my husband truly opened my eyes to how much beauty we have right here in Southern California! Like many, I'd lived nearby for years but never really took the time to explore this iconic landmark up close. If you're thinking about doing this hike, let me share a bit more about our experience and give you some tips, especially if you're considering the popular Brush Canyon Trail. We chose the Brush Canyon Trail for our adventure, and it was such a fantastic decision. It’s widely considered one of the best and most scenic routes to get a truly spectacular perspective of the sign. The trail itself is a well-maintained dirt path that offers a moderate challenge. You start near the bottom of Canyon Drive, and as you gradually ascend, you're treated to increasingly stunning panoramic views of the city, from downtown skyscrapers to the sprawling urban landscape. You'll definitely see plenty of fellow hikers, including many couples like us, enjoying the fresh air and the vibrant green hillside that comes alive, especially after some rain. What I loved most was the sense of anticipation and achievement as we got closer and closer to those famous white letters. It’s a fantastic way to feel connected to LA's history and natural beauty. Now, let's talk logistics, because nobody wants to start a hike stressed! Brush Canyon Trail parking can be a bit tricky, especially on busy days. We went on a weekday morning, which I highly recommend for a more peaceful experience. There's street parking available along Canyon Drive, but it fills up surprisingly fast. Arriving early is absolutely key – if you're aiming for a Hollywood Sign sunrise hike, you’ll not only beat the crowds but also catch some truly magical golden light over the city (something I’m definitely excited to try next time!). Just be mindful of all the parking signs, as there are strict residential restrictions in some areas, and you don't want a ticket to spoil your day. For your hike, definitely wear comfortable casual athletic wear and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. The path can be uneven and dusty in spots, and you’ll appreciate the support. Don't forget essentials like plenty of water, sunscreen, and maybe a hat or sunglasses, even on a cloudy day! The sun can be surprisingly strong. Reaching the viewpoint behind the sign where you can look down on the letters and out over the vast Los Angeles basin was just breathtaking. It was surreal to finally see 'Hollywoodland' up close, a fun historical detail about its original name that adds to the charm of the experience. The views stretch all the way to the Pacific Ocean on a clear day, making every step worth it. This Hollywood Sign hike is more than just getting your steps in; it's an immersive experience. Whether you're a local like me finally exploring your own backyard, or a visitor eager to see a true piece of Hollywood history, the Brush Canyon Trail to the Hollywood Sign is a must-do. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature, get some exercise, and see LA from a whole new, iconic angle. I'm already planning my next hike there, maybe even for that unforgettable sunrise view! It’s a personal journey that truly lets you appreciate the city from a different perspective.
