CNA/Nursing Student💕

2024/10/19 Edited to

... Read moreWow, I totally get where you're coming from! Juggling life as a CNA and an accelerated BSN nursing student feels like a constant marathon. The feeling of wanting to give up is real, but that BSN dream keeps us going, right? It's definitely not for the faint of heart, especially when you're working full-time at night like many of us are! From my experience, being a CNA while in nursing school is tough, but incredibly beneficial. It absolutely *does help for nursing school*! You get hands-on experience that textbooks can't teach. You learn how to interact with patients, understand hospital routines, and even simple things like how to properly make a bed or assist with personal care (yes, including perineal care, which is a fundamental skill!). This practical knowledge makes classroom concepts click much faster. Plus, future employers definitely look favorably on that real-world experience, so *does being a CNA look good for college*? Absolutely, and for your career too! Many wonder, *what do you learn in CNA classes*? You cover vital signs, patient hygiene, mobility assistance, communication skills, basic nutrition, and even some emergency procedures. It's foundational healthcare knowledge. And *is CNA class hard*? It can be challenging because it's fast-paced and requires a lot of memorization and hands-on skill practice, but it's very doable if you dedicate yourself. The NATCEP program (Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Program) ensures you're ready for the real world, and getting your NATCEP certification is your first big step into healthcare. When you start as a student nursing assistant or CNA, there's always an onboarding guide to help you learn the ropes of your specific facility. Don't be afraid to ask questions! Every hospital or long-term care facility has its own way of doing things, and learning from experienced nurses and CNAs is invaluable. For those of us aiming higher, the CNA role is often a stepping stone. Many consider a CNA to AD/BSN bridge program as a direct pathway. It's a smart route because you're already familiar with patient care, medical terminology, and the healthcare environment. This experience gives you a significant advantage in nursing school. It's like having a head start! To cope with balancing an accelerated BSN program and working as a CNA full-time at night, I've learned a few tricks. Time management is crucial – literally scheduling everything from study blocks to self-care. Find a study buddy! Having someone to commiserate and clarify concepts with is a lifesaver. And remember why you started. That BSN isn't just a degree; it's the key to a fulfilling career where you can make an even bigger impact. Hang in there – we'll get through this temporary hustle!
