Why is it so hot?!?! #floridacheck
Having lived in Florida for a few years, I can definitely relate to those days when it just feels unbearably hot. The weather here is affected by several factors including high humidity, close proximity to the ocean, and seasonal weather patterns. During summer, Florida is often hit by heatwaves caused by high-pressure systems that trap warm air in the region. This leads to temperatures soaring above 90°F regularly. What makes it feel even hotter is the humidity. When moisture in the air is high, sweat doesn’t evaporate quickly, reducing your body’s ability to cool down. This muggy sensation can make a 90°F day feel like 100°F or more. Staying hydrated is key, so I always carry a water bottle with me and try to find shade whenever possible. It’s also important to be aware of heat advisories issued by local weather services during such times. These alerts help residents take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. For me, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during midday and using sunscreen are essential steps to protect my skin and health. On the brighter side, Florida offers many indoor attractions such as museums, shopping centers, and cafes with air conditioning where you can cool off. And when evening comes, temperatures usually drop a bit, making it easier to enjoy outdoor activities. If you’re visiting Florida during a heatwave, plan your day around cooler parts of the day like early morning or late evening. Wearing light, breathable clothing and a hat also helps a lot. Remember, heat waves are temporary, but taking the right precautions can keep you safe and comfortable while you enjoy the unique charm of Florida’s sunshine.
