I was invited to honor Kelly Rowland @kellyrowland and other notable business women leaders at Tiffany’s flagship landmark store on 5th avenue @tiffanyandco by The Unlocked Foundation 🔐@theunlockedexperience, a nonprofit aimed at closing the wealth gap and creating wealth with women leaders. Kelly became a millionaire in her teenage years as a member of Grammy Award iconic recording group @destinyschild alongside (@beyonce and @michellewilliams). She joked that later on she was “rich-broke” and had to teach herself about managing money and creating wealth. 💰💵✨
She could have hidden this out of a fear of sharing her vulnerabilities, but she didn’t and instead she shared her story and is now on a mission to empower other women to take charge of their money and their lives. 🙌🏾
I research scarcity trauma heavily and write about this in my Instant National bestselling book “High Functioning.”📕
When people go through financial struggles they self blame and are ashamed to share it, but when they open up , seek support, and heal by sharing with others, they grow and can thrive. 🙏🏽📕💍💎💵💰
Thanks nishitha_k for having me with The Unlocked Foundation.

Attending the event honoring Kelly Rowland and other influential businesswomen at Tiffany’s flagship store was truly inspiring. Kelly’s candid reflection on her journey from teenage millionaire to experiencing ‘rich-broke’ moments resonated deeply with me. It highlights an important reality many face—early financial success doesn’t always equate to lasting wealth without education and intentional money management. Her fearless openness about money struggles offers a powerful message: vulnerability is not weakness, but strength, especially when it comes to finances. In my own experience, I’ve seen how financial scarcity leaves lasting psychological scars, often leading to shame and silence. That’s why initiatives like The Unlocked Foundation, aimed at closing the wealth gap for women leaders, are so crucial—they provide not just resources but community and healing. Sharing stories, seeking support, and educating ourselves about financial literacy can break cycles of scarcity trauma. For example, techniques like budgeting, understanding credit, investing, and strategic wealth-building have helped many women take control of their economic futures. Kelly’s mission to empower women to take charge of their money and lives reminds us that financial empowerment is also about reclaiming confidence and control. This gathering at Tiffany’s symbolizes more than recognition; it’s a call to action for women everywhere. By combining personal stories with research and education—as highlighted in works like the book “High Functioning” on scarcity trauma—we can foster growth and thriving financial health. Supporting each other, embracing transparency, and continuously learning are key steps toward bridging the wealth gap and creating sustainable wealth. Ultimately, the message that financial challenges are not uncommon and can be overcome with solidarity and knowledge is empowering. Kelly Rowland and The Unlocked Foundation exemplify how leadership, vulnerability, and education unite to transform not only individual lives but entire communities of women leaders.
