What is Lecik?
LASIK is a laser eye correction surgery to help reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses or contact lenses. LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis.
The working principles are:
1.Create a thin corneal plate (flap)
2. Open the corneal lid.
3. Use laser to adjust the shape of the cornea to give incident light on the image receiving point.
4. Close the corneal plate back in place without sewing.
LASIK can fix eye problems, e.g.
* Myopia
* Long-sighted
* Astigmatism
Advantage
* It does not take long to operate. Generally about 10-20 minutes for both sides.
* Vision usually improves within 1-2 days.
* Most hurt less and use only eye drops.
* Many people can return to daily life in a short time.
Limitations and risks
* Temporary dry eyes may be present.
* Some see a distracted light or diffuse light at night.
* Eyeglasses may be required occasionally, especially as they age and develop presbyopia.
* Although severe complications are infrequent, there are risks, such as infection.
Who fits LASIK?
* Age 18 and over
* Fixed sight value at least about 1 year
* The cornea is thick enough.
* There are no certain eye diseases, such as deflection cornea, glaucoma, diabetes in the retina.
