take care of yourself 💪🦋✨

around september of last year i went to my primary care provider about back pain & pain in my right hand. she said my hand is likely some onset carpal tunnel and gave me ideas to ease the pain and gave me a referral for physical therapy after my back x-rays came back completely normal

i’ve had this back pain most of my life, but being AFAB with a larger chest i always assumed that’s where the pain came from. before my doctors appointment the pain had been progressing for over a year or so and that’s what prompted me to see my doctor about it

physical therapy has helped me *so much*. i used to struggle with getting comfortable to fall asleep, i couldn’t walk for long periods of time, working was extremely difficult, and now i have almost no pain at all. my physical therapist has helped me adjust my posture when sitting, standing and even driving to create less tension on my back/spine.

this morning i went in and was confidently able to say i had no pain walking into the appointment for the first time! :)

i’m someone that generally puts things like this off, i either don’t think it’s important enough or it’ll sort itself out or whatever, but i’m so glad i vouched for myself and got the help i needed, my life has improved so much just being able to freely move around again 😭

i’m always the youngest one there and it’s kind of embarrassing almost but the way i feel afterwards physically makes the awkwardness so worth it :)

... Read moreBack pain is a common issue that affects many individuals, and understanding its causes and effective treatments can significantly improve quality of life. For those experiencing similar discomfort, it is essential to consult healthcare providers who can offer accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. One effective method gaining recognition is physical therapy, which focuses on restoring movement and alleviating pain through tailored exercises and education. Many patients, like the individual in this article, initially overlook their back pain, attributing it to various factors or hoping it will resolve on its own. However, timely intervention is crucial. Treatment options such as physical therapy not only help alleviate pain but also teach patients strategies to maintain a healthy posture, which is vital for long-term back health. Additionally, incorporating self-care practices, such as regular stretching, ergonomic adjustments in workstations, and mindful body awareness, can further enhance mobility and comfort. Engaging with a physical therapist can provide personalized guidance and techniques suited to individual needs, fostering both physical and emotional well-being. Embracing self-care is an empowering journey, and recognizing the importance of seeking help when necessary can lead to significant improvements in daily life. As this inspiring narrative demonstrates, prioritizing our health and well-being can open doors to a more active and fulfilling life.
