Good Intentions
Sometimes history repeats itself — not because people are evil, but because they don’t think far enough ahead.
Rome used religion to “keep the public in line.”
Washington believed faith made the new nation more stable.
Eisenhower blended patriotism with religion to fight communism.
All three started with good intentions.
All three accidentally opened the door to political manipulation.
The lesson?
Intent isn’t enough.
Leaders need reflection, education, and the courage to change course when the world changes.
