did you hate these classes too?

As a a third-year in college, I've been lucky to take some really amazing classes. I've also been unfortunate enough to take some god awful ones. Some of these are required classes for various majors and others were just for funsies!

LOVED CLASSES

✏️ Commercial Law I: Intro to the legal system, amendments, torts, and contracts. Super super interesting! Taking part II in the fall.

✏️ Intermdiate French: I love language learning and this class helped increase my fluency.

✏️ Gen Bio 1 & 2: Biology was my favorite subject in high school and I LOVED the college versions. I found the sections on cell bio more interesting than the ones on anatomy.

✏️ Genocide: An incredibly fascinating class, especially given today's global circumstances.

✏️ Stats 1 & 2: No explanation really, I just found it easy and straightforward.

✏️ Supernatural Europe: Talked about belief in superstitions across Europe! My favorite class last semester!

HATED CLASSES

✏️ Aesthetics of the Everyday: I am NOT an artist and I HATE taking art classes 💔

✏️ Age of Conquests: I didn't like my professor's teaching style at all and I just didn't really care about British History that much

✏️ American Religious Traditon: Focused more on philosophy than relgion, which was course catfishing. I also didn't like my professor very much.

✏️ Chinese Civ: We had over 200 PAGES OF READING A WEEK. There was also just wayyyyy too much material to cover in a single semester.

✏️ Gen Chem 1 & 2: I'm not very good at math and I also don't care about atoms and molecules and Avogadro's number

✏️ Social Psychology: Hated the professor's teaching style and the fact he asked such niche details about experiments from the textbook readings.

... Read moreAs college students navigate their academic paths, the selection of classes can significantly influence their educational experience. Many find joy in subjects that ignite their interests, like Commercial Law and Biology, which can also lead to improved understanding and deeper engagement. Conversely, required courses might evoke dislike, especially when the teaching style or course content fails to resonate with students. The mix of positivity and negativity in academic experiences is common, as showcased in the experiences of many students who have faced similar struggles with courses like Social Psychology and Chinese Civilization. To enhance your college journey, consider choosing electives that align with your passions while being prepared for challenging core courses. Familiarizing yourself with the curriculum and instructor styles beforehand can also help ensure a smoother academic experience and potentially discover hidden interests. Embrace the complexities of your college education, and remember that every class—whether loved or hated—contributes to your personal growth and learning.
