Lived here for 22 years but jaw still on the floor every day I'm back
Living in one place for more than two decades truly offers a unique perspective on home and community. Even after 22 years, the sense of awe and amazement each time I return is something I cherish deeply. It’s a reminder that familiarity doesn’t always lead to boredom; sometimes, it makes the everyday moments more special. Over the years, I’ve noticed how the little changes around me contribute to this feeling. Whether it’s new faces, renovated buildings, or just the changing seasons, every visit brings fresh experiences while maintaining a comforting sense of consistency. This blend of the new and familiar creates a living tapestry that makes each return something to look forward to. For anyone who has lived somewhere long-term, you might understand how certain places become a part of your identity. The local coffee shop, the neighborhood park, the streets you’ve walked countless times—they hold memories and a sense of belonging that can’t be replicated. What I find most rewarding is the opportunity to rediscover these elements with a renewed appreciation. Life’s pace may change, new people may come and go, but the core spirit of the place endures. This ongoing connection between past and present makes coming back not just a routine, but an emotional experience that keeps my jaw on the floor, as it has for 22 years.
