Realistic Evening Routine as a Working Mom (With a Toddler 😅)
If you think you’re about to have a calm, productive evening… think again.
I started off folding laundry, and my toddler immediately took over the moment 😂 But we still got through bath time, bedtime prep, and a quick night reset—refilling the diaper genie, restocking the diaper caddy, and getting things somewhat together for tomorrow.
This is your reminder that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be done.

As a working mom with a toddler, evenings can quickly become a whirlwind of activity and unexpected interruptions. From my experience, embracing imperfection is key to maintaining sanity and getting through the night. While folding laundry, I often find my toddler curious and eager to 'help,' which, although chaotic, creates bonding moments and lightens the mood. Establishing a night reset routine—refilling the diaper genie, restocking the diaper caddy, and tidying up—is essential, even if done imperfectly. These small tasks make mornings smoother and reduce stress. Incorporating bath time and bedtime prep in manageable blocks helps create structure, but flexibility is crucial since toddlers can be unpredictable. Sometimes, it means adjusting the sequence or allowing extra time for winding down. I’ve learned that rather than aiming for a flawless routine, focusing on consistency and presence works best. Sharing these moments with your toddler, even amidst the mess and interruptions, contributes to strong bonds and a positive parent-child relationship. Remember, it’s okay if things don’t go perfectly; done is better than perfect. This mindset has transformed the hectic evening into one filled with warmth and achievable rhythms, making working motherhood a little less overwhelming each day.
