Betrayal doesn’t just hurt the heart. It rearranges it.
Grief arrives not only for what happened, but for what you thought would happen. Anger rises not only from the act, but from the impact….the shattering of trust, the rewriting of your story without your consent.
These feelings are not dysfunction. They are devotion. Grief reveals what mattered. Anger reveals where your boundaries were violated. And the mess? The mess reveals that your heart was awake, alive, invested.
There was a season when I could go from numb, to weeping, to furious, to hopeful, all in a single hour. I thought something was wrong with me. I literally felt like I was going crazy.😮💨
But my body and my spirit taught me I was just feeling all the parts of myself that were finally allowed to speak.
Grief taught me what mattered. Anger taught me what no longer belonged. The mess taught me I was still alive.
I go over this deeper in module 8 “Anger, Grief and the Sacred Mess” of the BRG.
Conditioning teaches women that anger is unattractive. But anger after betrayal is a survival instinct saying: I deserved better. When anger is allowed to exist without punishment, it becomes power.
You are allowed to cry while laughing. To love while hurting.
Two things can be true at once.
This is not instability. This is integration.
To learn more and to heal after betrayal, not just by talking about it with a stranger in a couch, but true healing of your body, soul and mind, The Betrayal Recovery Guide is available to you.
You do not have to figure this out alone. 🙏
Betrayal is one of the most profound and challenging emotional experiences we can encounter. From personal experience, I've found that the process of healing after betrayal is rarely linear. It often involves waves of numbness, overwhelming sadness, intense anger, and moments of hope—all sometimes occurring within the same day. This fluctuation can be confusing and may even make one question their mental state, but it is actually a sign of deep emotional integration. Allowing yourself to feel anger without guilt is crucial. Anger following betrayal is not a sign of weakness or irrationality; it is a vital survival response that highlights boundaries that were crossed. Releasing suppressed anger can transform it into a source of personal power and empowerment. Similarly, grief uncovers what truly mattered to you, honoring the loss not just of trust but of dreams and expectations for the future. Recognizing that these reactions come from a place of devotion to yourself and the relationships you valued helps shift the narrative from dysfunction to self-awareness. In my journey, I realized that healing isn't just about talking to someone or intellectualizing the pain. It involves a holistic approach that includes calming the nervous system, tending to emotional wounds, and allowing space for the 'mess' of feelings to exist. This messy emotional process is actually a sign of being alive and engaged with your true self. Embracing this integration—loving while hurting, crying while laughing—helps restore balance and a deeper connection to your inner wisdom. If you're navigating this path, know that support is available beyond traditional therapy settings. Programs like The Betrayal Recovery Guide offer comprehensive tools that address body, mind, and soul healing. Remember, healing is a journey you don’t have to walk alone, and giving yourself permission to feel all parts of your experience is a vital step toward reclaiming your peace and personal power.
