Wi-Fi is a type of radio that transmits data between devices (such as mobile phones, computers) and routers without a LAN, allowing us to connect to the Internet.

1. Frequency (like "road")
Wi-Fi does not have a single wave, but it is mainly divided into three bands, which have different properties like different types of roads:
• 2.4 GHz (Garden Lane Road in Alley):
• Advantages: Signals go a long way, penetrate walls or obstacles well.
• Disadvantages: Narrow and crowded channel (because it is used in conjunction with microwave, bluetooth), easy to make slow net
• 5 GHz (Freeway):
• Advantages: Transmit data very fast, less noise
• Disadvantages: The transmission distance is shorter, penetrating thick walls is not good.
• 6 GHz (Expressway Exclusive - New Arrival in Wi-Fi 6E / 7):
• Advantages: Fastest, very wide channel and no interference from old equipment
• Disadvantages: Only new supported devices are required.
2.Standard of Wi-Fi (Generation)
We often see numbers appended to Wi-Fi to tell the model of the technology (the more numbers, the newer and faster):
• Wi-Fi 5 (ac): A common standard used today.
• Wi-Fi 6 / 6E (ax): Good data traffic management, support many devices simultaneously (fits Smart Home)
• Wi-Fi 7 (be): The latest standard (seriously started 2024-2025) emphasizes very high speed and split-second low latency.
3. Wi-Fi Signal Enemy
Wi-Fi signals can be weakened because of these factors:
• Distance: The further away from the Router, the weaker the signal.
• Barrier: Concrete wall, mirror, wardrobe (especially with metal)
• Interference waves: from a neighbor Router, microwave oven, or cordless phone.
