Best Matcha Cafe in Boston not New York!

📍Store: Matcha Cafe Maiko

⭐️Overall rating: 8/10

Matcha Cafe Maiko is one of my go to spots for matcha desserts, and it's also perfect for getting some work done or studying in Boston. They never disappoint me!

What makes this location even better than the one in New York? It offers more options, making it tough to choose just one flavor since I love them all!

However, I always find myself coming back for the Ube (Purple Yam), it's just that good.

And of course, I couldn't resist treating myself to the Gold Leaf second time. The Gold Leaf (Sho-gun) is absolutely amazing. The gold leaf matcha flavor melts in your mouth, delivering a sweet and luxurious taste that lingers long after the last bite. It's the kind of dessert that makes you feel extra special with every indulgent moment.

Seating can fill up quickly, so you might find yourself waiting for a spot. Don't worry, the service is quick, and the cafe is worth for that perfect treat!

... Read moreAs a huge matcha enthusiast, finding the perfect spot to satisfy my cravings is always a delight, and Matcha Cafe Maiko in Boston has truly captured my heart. While my initial visit was driven by a quest for the best matcha desserts, I quickly discovered it’s so much more than just a sweet treat destination. Beyond the famous Ube (Purple Yam) and the exquisite Gold Leaf Sho-gun soft serve – which truly melts in your mouth and leaves a sweet, luxurious taste – I’ve explored their wider menu. The menu board, often clearly displayed, showcases a fantastic variety of soft serve flavors, rich lattes, and refreshing floats. It's not just about the typical matcha here; you can find unique combinations and seasonal specials that make each visit an adventure. For instance, the way they layer the soft serve with corn flakes and mochi balls, as seen in some of the desserts, adds such a delightful texture contrast that elevates the whole experience. What also stands out is the cafe's atmosphere. The interior of Matcha Cafe Maiko Boston boasts a modern geometric wall design in vibrant colors, creating a bright and inviting space. It's not just functional with its multiple small tables and chairs; it’s genuinely a pleasant environment for unwinding, catching up with friends, or even getting some work done. I’ve often brought my laptop and found it to be a surprisingly productive spot, despite its popularity. Yes, seating can fill up quickly, especially during peak hours, but the efficient service means you're rarely waiting long for your order, making any wait for a table feel worthwhile. For those new to the Boston matcha scene, or perhaps looking beyond other local favorites like Kyo Matcha or Bliss Matcha & Beyond, Matcha Cafe Maiko offers a distinct experience. It’s a place where premium matcha meets innovative dessert creations. My personal recommendation for first-timers would be to not shy away from their specialty soft serves – the Ube is a fantastic introduction, and the Gold Leaf is an indulgence you won't regret. Don't forget to check out their latte options too; they're perfect for a less dessert-focused but equally satisfying matcha fix. It’s places like this that make Boston's food scene so exciting, proving you don't need to head to New York for top-tier matcha experiences.
