What separates average performers from top achievers?

Was asked a question by a friend this morning, "What do you think separates average performers from top achievers?" and here is my take on this question...

I gave him this analogy... Imagine yourself running, there would be 3 things ongoing:

·Your mind/heart thinking about the end point

·Your eyes seeing far ahead till you visibly can

·Your body/legs in the running form/mechanism propelling yourself forward

When it comes to the separation, weak/average performers tend to just dream big while running slow and frustrated with what they see. The top achievers push themselves forward while being patient with the scenary and ensure their execution is greater than their dreams...

This is what distincts them. Ask yourself:

·Have I only been dreaming big without putting in the work?

·Am I grateful with what is around me?

·Would I be open to proper guidance and enact upon it?

... Read moreFrom my experience, what truly sets top achievers apart isn’t just talent or luck, but a combination of focused mindset, clear vision, and persistent execution. Much like the analogy shared, when you’re ‘running’ toward your goals, it’s crucial to balance your big dreams with concrete action steps. I’ve noticed that average performers often get stuck daydreaming about success without feeling motivated to push past obstacles or take consistent action. Conversely, top achievers cultivate patience to appreciate their current circumstances while strategically planning and pushing forward. One practical approach I follow is regularly setting smaller milestones that align with my ultimate goal. This makes the journey feel manageable and helps maintain motivation. Also, staying open to guidance is vital—mentors or constructive feedback can illuminate blind spots and accelerate progress. However, the willingness to enact that advice makes the real difference. Gratitude plays an underrated role too. Appreciating the 'scenery,' as in your current environment and resources, builds resilience and prevents burnout. When frustration arises, reminding yourself of the progress made and the learning gathered can fuel renewed energy. Incorporating these insights into daily routines and mindset retraining can gradually shift an 'average performer' into a top achiever. Continuous learning, self-reflection, and patient execution are essential components of this transformation, and recognizing where you stand with these elements could be your first step to growth.
