You train your wrist joint zero times a week, but you load it under a bar every single session.

Two moves fix that. Wrist curls, then radial and ulnar deviation.

Follow me, then comment ‘BASICS’ and I’ll DM you my Mobility Basics program. No equipment, any level.

... Read moreWrist health often gets overlooked in most training routines, even though our wrists endure a lot of stress, especially during heavy pressing exercises. From my own experience, incorporating specific wrist exercises like wrist curls and radial and ulnar deviations has been a game-changer for maintaining joint integrity and reducing pain. These movements target the wrist joint and surrounding muscles, improving mobility and strength. Wrist curls involve slowly bending the wrist up and down while holding a barbell or dumbbell, which strengthens the flexor and extensor muscles. Adding radial and ulnar deviation - moving the wrist side to side - activates smaller but vital stabilizing muscles that often get neglected. I found that performing these exercises regularly not only helped me avoid common wrist complaints but also enhanced my grip strength, essential for lifting heavier weights safely. You don’t need any fancy equipment; even a lightweight bar or a resistance band works well. Another benefit was improved joint health, as these drills increase blood flow and promote better mobility. Over time, this made my wrists feel more resilient during intense training sessions. If you train with heavy bars or do a lot of pressing movements, implementing these wrist drills into your warm-up or cool-down routine is highly recommended. Consistency is key – even doing 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps multiple times per week can yield noticeable improvements. This simple approach bridges the gap between wrist stress and strength, helping prevent those nagging wrist issues many lifters face.
