Getting cast as a child actress is often a mix of chance, connections, and seizing the right moment. In my experience, having a family connection through my grandmother’s catering work with Mediacorp helped open the door. It wasn’t all smooth sailing — initially, my sister was favored because she was considered 'cuter,' but when she became shy, the chance shifted to me. This taught me how unpredictable casting can be and how important it is to be ready when opportunity knocks. Playing Yaya, the girl cat in the show Mat Yoyo, for three years was a transformative experience. Working alongside talented child actresses during auditions pushed me to improve my acting skills. The role gave me confidence and a sense of belonging in the acting world from a young age. It also showed me the importance of persistence and humility since I never took the role for granted. Reflecting back, acting in “Gerimis di Hati” required me to dive into complex family dynamics, including portraying a character whose father faced serious consequences.
