🪴WATER YOUR PLANT WITH RICE WATER🪴

Watering your plant with rice water is highly beneficial for your plant. Rice water acts as a great fertilizer and pesticides for your plant.

Trust me, your soil would be doing a happy dance if it can.

Happy planting!

... Read moreOkay plant parents, let me share my absolute favorite secret for lush, happy houseplants: rice water! I know it sounds simple, but trust me, this isn't just an old wives' tale – it's a powerhouse for your green friends. I started using it a while ago, and the difference in my plants is truly remarkable. So, what exactly is rice water and why is it so good? When you rinse rice before cooking, that cloudy water isn't just waste! It's packed with starches, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and even some beneficial amino acids and vitamins. These are all essential nutrients that plants absolutely adore. For me, it acts like a gentle, natural fertilizer that encourages stronger growth and healthier foliage. Plus, I’ve noticed it helps deter some common pests, making it a fantastic two-in-one solution. Preparing rice water is super easy. My go-to method is simply rinsing about a cup of rice with two cups of water. I swirl it around for a minute or two until the water turns milky white, then drain it into a separate container. You can use this fresh rice water directly. Some people prefer to let it ferment for a day or two, which can increase the nutrient availability, but be warned, it gets a bit smelly! For beginners, fresh is perfect. Now, how do I apply it? I usually use it to water my plant once every two to four weeks. I don't replace all my regular watering with rice water; it's more of a supplement. I make sure the soil is slightly damp first, then I pour the rice water around the base of the plant, just like regular watering. Always ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. I've seen fantastic results across many of my indoor plants. My spider plant has put out so many new 'spiderettes' since I started! My aloe vera plant leaves are thicker and greener. Even my succulents, which are notoriously picky, seem to enjoy a diluted rice water feed occasionally – just make sure not to overdo it with succulents, they need less water in general. It's genuinely beneficial for a wide range of houseplants, from ferns to philodendrons. Just a friendly tip: always observe your plants. If you notice any yellowing or signs of stress, scale back. Every plant is unique, and sometimes less is more. But for most of my green companions, watering houseplants with rice water has been a total game-changer. Give it a try, and watch your plants thrive!

do you rinse the rice raw or let it soak first then drain? or do you cook the rice and collect the rice water?!. I have a African aloe succulent unfortunately I forgot what type it is I do know it's not aloe vera. leaves are similar in color and look to your plant shown above, the stem or stalk resembles a Palm tree.
