“don’t know where to start in the bible?”
Where to start in the Bible is based off where you are, so I tried to make it as easy as possible 💖
🩵as a person who’s just trying to understand who Jesus is the gospels are the perfect place to start
🩷 as a person who knows who Jesus is but needs more guidance of exactly how to be a Christ follower Paul’s letters a the answer
🧡as a person who know who Jesus is and what they’re supposed to be doing now it’s time to rewind a learn the history of it all
Reading the Bible and which books are most helpful is very subjective, obviously all God’s word is good!
I encourage you guys to comment what other books you think are helpful

It's so easy to feel overwhelmed when you first decide to dive into the Bible, isn't it? I remember staring at all those pages, wondering, 'HOW TO READ THE BIBLE?' and 'Where do I even begin this incredible reading journey, especially as a beginner friendly reader?' The original post gives amazing starting points, but let's dig a little deeper into making your time in the Word truly fruitful. If you're just starting to understand who Jesus is, the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) are truly your best friend. They paint such a vivid picture of His life, teachings, miracles, and ultimate sacrifice. When I first started, focusing on one Gospel at a time helped me really grasp the narrative without getting lost. Try reading one chapter a day, perhaps, and journal any thoughts or questions that come to mind. It's not about speed, but about connection. For those of us who know Jesus but are seeking more guidance on how to live as a Christ follower, Paul's letters (like Romans, Galatians, Colossians mentioned in the OCR!) are powerful. They're packed with practical wisdom for navigating everyday life, relationships, and faith challenges. I've found it helpful to read these letters with a specific question in mind, like 'How does this apply to my current situation?' or 'What does God want me to do with this?' Don't be afraid to reread passages; sometimes the Holy Spirit reveals new insights on a second or third read! And if you're like me, someone who loves understanding the bigger story and the history behind our faith, diving into books like Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy is incredibly rewarding. These foundational Bible books lay the groundwork for everything that follows. While some parts might seem dense, remember you're reading the very beginning of God's relational story with humanity. Look for themes of God's faithfulness, His covenants, and His character throughout. Beyond these initial starting points, the OCR also mentions 'What's next?' for godly wisdom and faith. Once you've got a good grasp of the basics, exploring books like Psalms and Proverbs for daily wisdom is a game-changer. Psalms offers a beautiful window into raw human emotion and worship, while Proverbs gives practical, bite-sized advice for living wisely. For building faith, books like Job and 1 Peter can be incredibly encouraging, showing God's sovereignty even in suffering. My biggest tip for anyone on this journey, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to go deeper, is consistency over quantity. Even just 10-15 minutes a day can transform your walk with God. Find a quiet spot, pray for understanding, and let His Word speak to you. Don't worry about understanding everything perfectly right away. It's a lifelong journey, and every step is a step closer to Him. This 'reading journey Beginner friendly' approach is all about taking it one step at a time.
