Do We Really Need to Rush Love? 💿

I’ve never been someone who falls for people quickly. I’m the kind of person who needs time.

Time to get to know someone. Time to figure out how I feel. Time to decide whether I genuinely like the person or if I’m just caught up in the excitement of being liked.

But there’s one question that always follows me, Do we really need to rush love?

One thing I’ve always struggled with is how quickly people expect an answer when it comes to love. Whenever someone tells me they’re interested in me, my first instinct isn’t excitement. Instead, it’s fear. I know it sounds dramatic, but unfortunately it’s true.

I’ve always been someone who needs time to process my feelings, to get to know a person, to understand what I truly want.

Because of that, I’ve had my fair share of failed talking stages. And if I’m being honest, I haven’t always handled them in the best way. When things start to move too fast, I tend to shut down. I pull away. Sometimes, I disappear entirely.

Not because I want to hurt anyone, but because running away from my feelings has always felt easier than confronting them. I also think part of the reason I struggle with this comes from one of my past experiences. Before my first relationship, I wasn’t ready when the other person started showing interest in me. I remember feeling overwhelmed because I genuiely didn’t know how I felt yet. The more I was asked for an answer, the more pressure I felt.

And the more pressure I felt, the more I wanted to run away from the situation entirely. Looking back, I don’t think I was afraid of commitment but afraid of making the wrong decision before I was ready.

For a while I always thought that there was something wrong with me. Like how would I know if this felt right. Why couldn’t I like the person back, like there’s nothing wrong with him but what’s stopping me? But as I got older, I’ve started to realize that maybe needing time isn’t a flaw.

Maybe it’s just the way I love. I don’t want to enter a relationship because I feel pressured to. I don’t want to say ‘yes’ simply because I’m afraid of disappointing someone.

I want to choose someone who I genuinely want to be with and not because I felt rush into making a decision. And that’s why I’ve always struggled with the idea that love needs to happen so quickly.

If someone truly cares about you, shouldn’t they also respect your pace? Shouldn’t love be something that grows naturally instead of something we’re pressured to figured out overnight.

At the same time, we don’t need to act like being in a relationship is the only way to experience love. Some of the healthiest forms of love I’ve experienced came from my friendships. The people who check up on me. The people who sit beside me on my worst days and remind that I’m not alone.

Thst’s why I’ve never felt the need to rush into getting in a romantic relationship because I’ve learned that love already exists in so many forms.

So, do we really need to rush love? Or is it okay to take our time and let things happen naturally? 🤍

... Read moreMany of us feel that urgency when it comes to love, but rushing into romantic relationships often leads to missed opportunities for deeper connections. From personal experience, I've found that allowing emotions to develop naturally without pressure creates a healthier foundation for love. When love is rushed, it can trigger fear or hesitation, especially if you need time to truly know your feelings. The phrase from the article's image, "WHY IS TAKING THINGS SLOW SO HARD?" really resonates because society often portrays quick, intense romance as the ideal. But real love doesn’t adhere to a fixed timeline. Sometimes, the pressure to hurry love arises from outside expectations or fear of missing out, which can cloud judgment and lead to choices we aren’t ready for. It's empowering to honor your own rhythm. In my experience, relationships that start with patience and mutual respect for timing tend to withstand challenges better. Equally important is recognizing that love isn't limited to romantic bonds. Friends who show up for you consistently, friends who remind you that you’re not alone on the hardest days, are true examples of love’s many forms. Taking things slow gave me the space to reflect on what I genuinely want—not just in a partner, but in life. It reduced the fear and helped me avoid rushing into decisions out of pressure or anxiety. Respecting your own pace means understanding that it’s okay to say, "I need more time" without feeling guilty or fearing rejection. Ultimately, whether it’s a blossoming romance or a growing friendship, love that is nurtured over time tends to feel more authentic and fulfilling. So rather than asking, "Do we really need to rush love?" the answer might simply be that love deserves patience, space, and the freedom to grow naturally.

Do You Really Need to Warm Up Your Bike?
A lot of riders in SG still debate this. Old carb bikes? Yes—warming up helps fuel flow smoothly. But for modern fuel-injected bikes? You usually don’t need to idle for long. Just start, let it run 30–60s, then ride off gently. 🚦 💡 Why? • Idling too long wastes petrol ⛽ •
