Square Bowl Ichiran Ramen? Only in Fukuoka 👀🍜

Recently chanced upon this square bowl version of Ichiran ramen at Canal City, Fukuoka and had to try it. Apparently this special square bowl is only available at selected outlets.

The bowl usually contains "Kamadare Tonkotsu" ramen, which features a sweeter, more intense soy-sauce-based broth compared to regular Ichiran stores. But I can’t really taste anything dramatically different taste-wise, but honestly… Ichiran rarely disappoints.

What made this one fun was really the square bowl presentation. It’s a small detail but somehow makes the ramen feel a bit more special (and slightly more photogenic too 📸).

If you’re already visiting Canal City in Fukuoka, might be worth dropping by to see if you can get the square bowl Ichiran experience.

Not mind-blowing, but still a solid bowl of comfort ramen 🍜✨

... Read moreTrying the square bowl Kamadare Tonkotsu ramen at Ichiran in Fukuoka’s Canal City was a memorable experience. What stood out most was the presentation—the square bowl not only looks modern but also adds a distinct touch to the traditional ramen experience. The Kamadare Tonkotsu broth itself offers a deeper soy sauce flavor, which some might describe as slightly sweeter and more intense than the classic Ichiran Tonkotsu ramen, although the difference is subtle. This variation highlights Ichiran’s attention to nuanced flavors. Visiting Ichiran’s Canal City outlet means trying a version of their ramen that you cannot find elsewhere in Japan. The exclusive nature makes it a worthwhile visit for food enthusiasts exploring Fukuoka’s culinary scene. Plus, the slightly different shape of the bowl also enhances the ramen’s visual appeal, making it perfect for those who love sharing food photos on social media. For those who haven’t been to Fukuoka yet, the city is known as the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen. Ichiran’s special edition bowl there adds to the local ramen culture, blending tradition with a modern twist. Pair your ramen with some local attractions in Canal City—it’s a great way to enjoy a tasty meal while exploring the vibrant shopping and entertainment complex. From a personal perspective, while the taste wasn’t drastically different, the unique bowl made the meal feel special and more comforting. It’s a reminder that sometimes, small changes in presentation can heighten the dining experience. For ramen fans visiting Japan, especially Fukuoka, this square bowl Kamadare Tonkotsu ramen offers both a comforting flavor and a rare culinary photo opportunity.
