I quit lemon8 💔

I stopped posting on Lemon8… and TikTok…. And IG. (Ok, I never really posted on TikTok or IG) for a couple reasons:

1. The (reading) creator program stopped & I was enjoying it… but…

2. I was feeling burned out by consistent posting.

But it’s been a while & I’m considering re-starting, but there still isn’t a (reading) creator program :(

... Read moreTaking a break from social media platforms like Lemon8 can be both a refreshing and challenging experience. From my perspective, the main reason for stepping back was the absence of the reading creator program, which I had found motivating and rewarding. Without that support, it felt harder to stay engaged. Burnout is a very real issue among content creators, especially when consistent posting is expected to maintain audience interest. I noticed I was spending more energy trying to keep up than genuinely enjoying the process of sharing my thoughts about books. This affected my creativity and the quality of my posts. Looking back, I realized that balancing my love for reading with the demands of social media became overwhelming. It's important for creators to listen to themselves and recognize when rest is needed to avoid long-term fatigue. If you’re thinking about quitting or taking a break, consider it as an opportunity to recharge and reflect on what type of content truly inspires you. For me, the hope of a new or revived creator program on Lemon8 is a motivator to maybe return, but only when it feels sustainable and enjoyable again. On a related note, I found myself engaging more deeply with books like "J.K. Rowling's Parts One and Two" and titles such as "Red, White & Royal Blue" during my social media downtime. This reaffirmed that reading is ultimately about personal pleasure, not just sharing online. To fellow readers and creators feeling burned out, remember: it’s okay to step back, prioritize your mental health, and come back when the time is right. Social media should enhance your passion, not diminish it.
