5 Things you should do with toddlers every day
5 things that you (or another adult) should be doing with your toddler or preschooler every day
with the "why" on the third slide from a former daycare teacher, former elementary teachers assistant, and current stay at home mom.
The 5 Things
•Reading to them
•Playing whatever they want (within reason) and giving them undivided attention for at LEAST 15 minutes
•Coloring (and letting them just scribble)
•Taking them outside (if it's safe)
•Include them in at least one chore (Even if it slows you down)
The reasons why
•Reading with them everyday from the beginning is - proven to help literacy and understanding later in life
•Being completely present with your kid and playing what they want is very good for their emotional health and typically causes less tantrums
•Coloring and letting them just scribble is very good for their hand development and ability to write later in life
•The sun is proven to be instrumental in developing good eyesight, running around outside during the day helps kids fall asleep at bedtime, and playing in the dirt is amazing for their immune system.
•Including them in chores as soon as possible helps them develop a sense of responsibility and makes it easier to teach them to do chores when they're older.
