Did I cross a line by calling out her priorities?
I got on my flight, plopped into the economy-plus seat I shelled extra cash for, and was already mentally unwinding until a mom tapped my shoulder. She asked if I’d move to a middle seat in the back so her 9 years old could sit with her.
I told her I’d consider it if she covered the upgrade cost I paid. Her response? Calling me heartless for “making her kid sit scared alone.” That’s when I asked her that did she offer her better seat to whoever was next to her son? She just said: “I need the leg room.”
I told her if she truly cared about her kid, she’d switch seats herself, not ask a stranger to downgrade. Next thing I know, she’s sobbing in the aisle in front of everyone. I know I did pushing her parenting choices in public and making her cry. Was I in the wrong here?
