The most absurd cost cutting move ever...

Let me get this straight. NYU hikes tuition again but skimps on the ONE thing we all use daily. The toilet paper in campus bathrooms is so thin, it’s basically tissue paper, you’re holding your breath the entire time, praying it doesn’t disintegrate. This makes me lack of security, if we’re being real.

Where’s the logic here? We’re dropping thousands upon thousands for tuition and they can’t spring for a decent roll of TP? It’s not like we’re asking for luxury, just something that doesn’t feel like we’re wiping with a dry leaf.

Am I the only NYU student losing it over this tiny but infuriating detail? What’s the most absurd cost-cutting move your school’s pulled while raising tuition? Do we need to start a petition for thicker toilet paper?

... Read moreIt's frustrating when tuition hikes don't translate into better campus facilities, especially for essentials like toilet paper. The OCR content highlights a simple but relatable demand: "NYU raised tuition so can we at least get thicker toilet paper?" This reflects a broader sentiment felt by many students across universities where rising costs don't always match improved services. Thick, durable toilet paper isn’t a luxury but a basic necessity that impacts comfort and hygiene daily. Students often spend thousands of dollars on tuition expecting a reasonable standard of living, so skimping on something so fundamental feels like a disregard for their well-being. This kind of cost-cutting can cause real stress—in an environment where students already face academic and financial pressures, even minor discomforts become magnified. Many universities face budget constraints but finding a balance between cutting costs and maintaining essential standards is crucial. Some campuses have shifted to eco-friendly options, but these don’t have to mean sacrificing quality. Community feedback and petitions like the one suggested here can raise awareness and encourage administrations to prioritize student comfort. Sharing your own experiences with cost-cutting at school helps build a collective voice. Whether it’s bad cafeteria food, outdated facilities, or as trivial as thin toilet paper, these issues deserve attention. After all, affordable education isn’t just about tuition—it includes fair treatment and decent amenities that respect the students’ daily lived experience.

In hotels I roll off about 12 squares and fold in half about three times for thickness. Yes this uses the roll up quicker but maybe they’ll get the message.
