I hope I always do him justice. We started this probect well before we decided to share his story like most of my videos that are very much posted in lag. Sometimes you need time to process and figure out how to address the real issue before you address the internet especially with chronic illness. We will have to upgrade eventually but when he’s through with it, it will be a great crate bed for the dogs. Ruben and I have been working our tiny hinies off to give you guys an update on the welfare of this little guy. We are trying to get the humidity just right still but I bought another humidifier to try and make that happen. We are also going to try and cover the sides somehow to keep more humidity in. My heart is bigger than my wallet and so I’m going to have to figure out some ways to financially recover from this but we will make it work. A tortoise was not in the budget this month 😂 Regardless, he will be thriving and I will try to update as he grows along with my usual non tortoise content 🫶🏼

Caring for a baby tortoise, especially a leopard tortoise, involves more than just providing a safe enclosure—it requires attention to specific environmental needs like humidity which is vital for their health and shell development. In my personal experience rescuing and nurturing a baby tortoise, maintaining the right humidity levels posed a challenging yet rewarding learning curve. To create a suitable habitat, I used multiple humidifiers and even improvised by covering the sides of the enclosure to retain moisture better, which significantly improved the humidity consistency. Additionally, monitoring temperature alongside humidity ensures the tortoise's respiratory system stays healthy, as they are prone to respiratory issues if conditions are too dry or cold. Feeding a varied diet rich in leafy greens and calcium supplements supports their growth and shell strength. Rescue often comes with unexpected financial and emotional challenges, but the joy of seeing the little tortoise thrive makes it all worthwhile. Sharing updates and experiences helps raise awareness about exotic pet rescue and encourages responsible care practices. For anyone considering caring for a baby tortoise, patience and a willingness to adapt your setup are key, along with researching species-specific requirements to provide the best possible environment.
