I hate when this happens….

It's a conversation I've had more times than I can count: 'Hima'am, I'm a Real Estate Agent here to assist you!' And then, inevitably, 'But you're only 18?' I get it. When you're a young professional trying to make your mark, especially in a field like real estate that often values experience and a certain 'gravitas,' those moments can be incredibly frustrating. But my answer is always the same: 'I'm still a Real Estate agent.' This isn't just about age; it's about perception, and frankly, it's a challenge many young entrepreneurs face. When I first started out in Wisconsin, I was constantly worried about how clients would perceive me. Would they trust me with one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives? Would they take my advice seriously? The initial skepticism is real, and it can really get into your head. There were days I wondered if I was doing something wrong, or if I needed to try harder to look older, more established. But over time, I've learned that the best way to combat these preconceived notions isn't to try and be someone you're not, but to double down on what you can control: your knowledge, your professionalism, and your work ethic. I've found a few strategies that have really helped me gain clients' trust, regardless of my age. Firstly, deep dive into local market knowledge. I make sure I know everything about the Wisconsin market – the neighborhoods, schools, market trends, even future developments. When you can confidently answer questions and provide insights that even seasoned buyers or sellers might not know, your age becomes irrelevant. Your expertise speaks for itself. Secondly, over-communicate and be proactive. I anticipate questions and provide information before it's even asked. Sending detailed summaries after calls, sharing market reports, and being incredibly responsive shows a level of dedication and organization that clients truly appreciate. It demonstrates reliability, which is key to overcoming any initial doubts. Thirdly, leverage technology. As a younger agent, I'm often more comfortable with new technologies and digital marketing strategies. This can be a huge asset! From creating engaging virtual tours to using social media effectively for property listings, I use these skills to provide a modern, efficient service that stands out. It shows I'm forward-thinking and capable. Finally, focus on building genuine relationships. At the end of the day, people want to work with someone they like and trust. I spend time listening to my clients, understanding their needs, and building rapport. Showing genuine care and dedication helps bridge any perceived age gap. It’s about proving your value through results and unwavering support. So, if you're a young aspiring real estate agent, or any professional facing similar age-related skepticism, don't let it deter you. Use it as fuel to become even better. You might be "only 18," but that doesn't define your capability or passion. Keep learning, keep hustling, and let your results do the talking. It's a journey, but a rewarding one, especially when you help someone find their perfect home!
