Due to popular demand the fear food series is back so please share with anyone who is struggling with eating and comment a fear food you want me to eat :) #fearfood #edrecoveryyy #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
Facing fear foods can be one of the most challenging parts of an eating disorder recovery journey. From personal experience, I understand how daunting it feels to eat something that triggers anxiety or fear. For me, items like bagels and cream cheese were initially overwhelming because I associated them with loss of control or negative thoughts. What helped me was knowing I wasn’t alone in this struggle. Engaging with a supportive community and sharing these experiences made a huge difference. It’s key to remember that your worth isn’t defined by the foods you eat or avoid. Each small step, like trying a bit of a fear food, is a significant victory. I found it helpful to pair these steps with affirmations and reminders, such as "How my worth didn’t change" despite food challenges. This mindset helped shift from fear to empowerment. Additionally, tracking fears and progress in a journal or with a trusted friend can encourage reflection and growth. If you’re struggling with fear foods, start small and be gentle with yourself. Celebrate every accomplishment, no matter how minor it may seem. Engaging in communities focused on #fearfood and #edrecoveryyy offers connection and understanding from people who truly get it. Remember, you don’t have to eat alone or face these fears in isolation. Recovery is a process, but every shared experience can inspire courage and hope.
