On the way to Prague

Prague

... Read moreOkay, so you saw my initial post about heading to Prague – well, the journey itself was an adventure! As you might have seen from my little Google Maps screenshot, I was making my way from the general Vienna/Bratislava region, and let me tell you, traveling by rail through this part of Europe is an experience in itself. I was definitely that person relaxing on the train, phone in hand, watching the beautiful landscape pass by through the window. Having my luggage right there with me made it so convenient, especially since I'm literally moving here for hockey! For anyone else planning a similar travel route from Bratislava to Prague, or even from Vienna, I highly recommend the train. It's not just efficient; it’s incredibly scenic. Booking my Eurorail pass was straightforward, and the trains are generally comfortable, offering a great chance to just unwind before diving into a new city. Make sure to download some shows or have a good book, though the views often keep you entertained enough. I snapped a few photos of the quaint towns and rolling hills – it’s a gentle introduction to the Czech Republic. One thing I quickly realized is how accessible Prague is from these major hubs. The travel time flies by, and before you know it, you’re pulling into Prague's main station, ready to start your next chapter. For me, that's getting settled for hockey, which is a whole new challenge and super exciting! Now that I'm here, even if just outside the main city for now, I'm already itching to explore. This is where I really need your help! Since I’m new to the area and will be busy with hockey, any recommendations for making Prague feel like home would be amazing. What are your favorite cozy cafes for a morning coffee? Any specific neighborhoods I should explore for unique shops or local vibes? And of course, for a hockey player, any tips on where to watch local games or maybe even find some pickup ice? I'm hoping to immerse myself fully in the Czech culture. I'm also curious about the best ways to get around Prague once I'm there. Is public transport the way to go, or are there areas best explored on foot? Any hidden gems for delicious Czech food that aren't super touristy? I'm all about authentic experiences. Getting a local's perspective is invaluable, so please, share all your wisdom! This journey is just beginning, and I can't wait to see what Prague has in store.
