🖤🌿Mental illnesses I struggle with✨✨

6/10 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, living with mental illnesses like BPD, ADHD, and CPTSD means navigating a complicated landscape where emotions feel intense and unpredictable. What many don’t realize is how exhausting it is to constantly manage fear of abandonment, emotional intensity, and dissociation—all of which can lead to feeling overwhelmed and isolated. One challenging aspect that stood out is how these disorders affect not just the mind but the body; chronic pain, fatigue, and tension are ever-present reminders that mental health struggles are holistic. For those dealing with ADHD, time can feel warped—minutes might drag or fly by unpredictably. I’ve dealt with executive dysfunction so severe that finishing tasks feels impossible despite best intentions. Overwhelm and sensory overstimulation can zap energy quickly, making me crave routines but also craving novelty and variety to keep my brain engaged. It’s a daily balancing act that requires immense patience and self-compassion. With CPTSD, my nervous system frequently feels on high alert, making safety and trust extremely difficult to reclaim. Healing isn’t about forgetting or simply moving on—it’s about understanding triggers are real and that my body remembers trauma before my mind does. Learning to listen to these signals without judgment has slowly helped me build resilience. One thing I want others to know is that healing is not linear and isn’t about perfection or productivity. Taking time to rest, practicing grace with yourself, and accepting both progress and setbacks are vital parts of the journey. Self-harm and suicidal thoughts can be terrifying experiences, but reaching out for support and developing coping strategies like grounding techniques or body doubling has made a difference for me. Mental illnesses don’t define who I am; they are part of my story, and I deserve peace, connection, and understanding. Sharing these experiences openly has been cathartic. It’s helped me break down stigma, connect with others facing similar struggles, and create spaces where vulnerability is met with empathy rather than judgment. If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone and that seeking help is a courageous and important step toward reclaiming your life. We all deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported on this path.
