Often, I didn't know how to just be a kid or relax; instead, I was caught up in waves of emotional turmoil that shaped who I am today. One layer that resonated deeply with me was the experience of wanting someone to stay when everything felt overwhelming. The hope and need for reassurance were powerful forces that kept me moving. I also connected with the feeling of sometimes not trusting anyone or feeling like I was too much for others to handle. These versions were not signs of weakness but rather survival mechanisms in their purest form. Grieving the person I thought I was supposed to become or never met allows for self-compassion and healing. It's crucial to honor these versions, the angry one, the anxious one, and even the one who just wanted to get out of bed, because each one is a testament to resilience. They represent steps on a long road toward acceptance and strength. From my experience, embracing all parts of ourselves, even the ones that feel broken or less desirable, leads to greater self-awareness. This gratitude towards every version encourages us to keep going and cherish the beauty found in our imperfections.
