😮‍💨 Social Media is unrealistic!

... Read moreAs someone who has been deeply involved in the small business scene, especially here in Singapore, I can definitely relate to the sense of frustration and isolation that can come from comparing your behind-the-scenes reality with the highlight reels shown on social media. One realization I've come to is how social media often paints an unrealistic picture of flawless success. The snapshots of perfect products, seamless operations, and constant growth rarely show the setbacks, mistakes, and mental struggles business owners endure. Like the honest admissions from Emporal Co—failing university courses, workplace betrayals, and the tendency to avoid problems—these experiences are part of the unspoken narrative. From personal experience, I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed and to overthink every possible worst-case scenario. Sometimes, problems don’t resolve simply by ignoring them, no matter how tempting that approach is. But embracing failures as opportunities instead of stigmas can transform these challenges into invaluable lessons, ultimately strengthening your resolve. I've also seen how important it is to share these real stories within business communities. It fosters understanding and support among peers and can reduce the loneliness many entrepreneurs feel. Hard work combined with resilience, as Emporal Co highlights, is indeed the foundation for coming back stronger. Ultimately, recognizing that social media's portrayal is selective helps me maintain perspective. By accepting our imperfections and being open about our struggles, we can build more authentic brands and relationships with our customers. This mindset shift not only improves mental well-being but can also lead to genuine business growth and fulfillment.

Some things are better left in the past.
Being a counsellor is mostly great. The downside? People assume it comes with a lifetime subscription to sainthood as if you’re required to be endlessly neutral, endlessly compassionate, and somehow above having personal boundaries or opinions. Unfortunately, I’m still human. Last night, my

Unproductive on Social Media
The truth is, social media can often become a distraction, making us feel like we’re being productive when we're actually not. The real key to success isn't about how much time you spend scrolling or posting. It’s about how you focus your energy and time on things that truly move you for

Do you know why you are on social media?
That’s a funny question to ask, isn’t it? My post title. Have you ever asked yourself that question before? How did you answer it? How would you answer it now? And how certain do you feel about your answer? _ The above was a little exercise I did with myself recently. It was just a random
