My AM Skincare Routine

2024/5/23 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, skincare fam, let's talk about the real MVP of my morning routine that significantly changed my skin: double cleansing! I know what you might be thinking – another step? But trust me, especially if you have combination or sensitive skin like mine, this isn't just a trend; it's a game-changer. My original routine briefly mentioned it, but I want to dive deeper into why and how I make this facial cleansing routine work for a fresh, healthy start every day. You might wonder, why double cleanse in the morning? Isn't that just for makeup removal? Not at all! Overnight, our skin still produces oil, we sweat, and whatever serums or treatments we applied can leave a residue. For my combination skin, this means waking up with an oily T-zone, and for my sensitive skin, I need a thorough yet gentle cleanse that won't strip it. A proper AM double cleanse removes all of this, prepping your skin perfectly for the rest of your routine, ensuring your serums and moisturizers can penetrate effectively. It truly sets the stage for that 'glowy skin' we all crave! My double cleansing routine starts with the first step: an oil-based cleanser. Even though I don't have makeup on, I reach for a gentle cleansing oil. I apply it with dry hands to my dry face, massaging it in circular motions for about a minute. This step is fantastic for breaking down any overnight sebum, residual skincare products (like a heavy night cream), and even microscopic dust particles that might have settled. It's incredibly satisfying and surprisingly non-greasy. The key is to emulsify it with a little water until it turns milky, then rinse thoroughly. This leaves my skin feeling soft, not stripped. Now for the second and crucial step, especially since many of you are asking about foam cleansers and a honey face cleansing routine! After rinsing the oil cleanser, I follow up with a water-based cleanser. This is where I alternate between a couple of my favorites, depending on what my skin needs that day. When I want something extra soothing and balancing, I use a beautiful honey foam cleanser. Seriously, incorporating this honey face cleansing routine has been a revelation! The foam is light, airy, and feels incredibly calming on my sensitive areas, while still providing an effective clean for my combination zones. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated, not tight. On other days, I might reach for a more straightforward hydrating cleanser, which also creates a lovely foam. Both options ensure all traces of the oil cleanser and any remaining impurities are gently lifted away. The trick here is to work the foam cleanser into a lush lather in your hands first before applying it to your face. Use gentle, upward motions – no harsh scrubbing! It's about letting the product do the work. For anyone with sensitive skin, finding the right foam cleanser for your second step is vital. Look for formulas that are pH-balanced, fragrance-free, and contain soothing ingredients. Avoid anything that makes your skin feel squeaky clean or tight afterward; that's a sign of stripping, which can lead to irritation and dryness. My current choices for the double cleansing second step foam have been fantastic because they cleanse deeply without compromising my skin's barrier. After thoroughly rinsing with lukewarm water and gently patting my face dry with a clean towel, my skin feels incredibly refreshed, clean, and perfectly prepped. This two-step process genuinely maximizes the benefits of my subsequent serums, like the brightening serum or hyaluronic acid essence I use, and ensures my all-purpose skin cream and SPF 50 face sunscreen have a clean canvas to work on. So, if you've been curious about the facial cleansing routine foam cleanser or wondering about the magic of a honey face cleansing routine, I highly recommend giving this a try. Your skin will thank you!
