Coffee and Jesus Time!
There's something truly special about those quiet moments when it's just Coffee and Jesus! For me, it's the perfect way to anchor my day in peace and purpose. I love waking up, brewing a fresh cup – sometimes a rich Caramel Pecan blend if I'm feeling fancy – and settling into my favorite spot to spend time with God. It’s more than just a routine; it's a sacred space where I feel His presence most intimately. This morning, as often happens, a particular scripture resonated deeply with me. The words from Psalms 143:8 came to mind: 'Tell me in the morning about your love, because I trust you. Show me what I should do, because my prayers go up to you. Let the dawning day bring me revelation of your tender, unfailing love. Give me light for my path and teach me, for I trust in you.' This verse perfectly encapsulates the longing for divine guidance and the comfort found in His unfailing love. It’s a prayer that speaks to my heart, reminding me that even before I step out into the world, I can seek His wisdom and direction. I find myself asking, “Show me what I should do,” knowing that my prayers go up to Him and He will provide light for my path. Many people wonder about the meaning behind phrases like 'mornings are for coffee and contemplation.' For me, it's about intentionality. It's carving out time before the demands of the day pull me in a million directions. It’s about being still and allowing God to speak. This contemplation isn't just passive; it's active listening, reflecting on His Word, and letting His love wash over me. It’s where I find the strength to face challenges, knowing I can trust You (God) completely. If you're looking to cultivate your own 'Jesus and Coffee time,' it's simpler than you might think. Start small. Perhaps just 10-15 minutes. Brew your favorite coffee – maybe try a new flavor like that Caramel Pecan – and choose a comfortable spot. You don't need a fancy Jesus and coffee mug to start, just an open heart. I usually begin with prayer, thanking God for the new day and bringing my concerns to Him. Then, I open my Bible. Sometimes I read a pre-selected devotional, and other times I just let the Spirit guide me to a passage. Journaling can be really powerful too, writing down thoughts, insights, or even just expressing gratitude. It's about letting the dawning day bring me revelation of His truth. While some might ask, 'Was there coffee in Jesus' time?' or 'Does the Bible mention coffee?', the answer is no, coffee as we know it wasn't around then. But the principle of seeking God in quiet moments, of starting your day with prayer and reflection, is timeless and profoundly biblical. It's about cultivating a heart that desires to be taught by Him, to experience His tender, unfailing love, and to walk in the light for my path that He provides. This daily ritual with my coffee and my Savior truly fills my cup, both literally and spiritually.
