It's quite hard to find a quiet spot at town for a mini breather/ a place to sit with friends and yap. Recently went to third floor and it was hidden away from all the bustle.
What I liked:
- Coffee was good though I didn't really get the krispy kreme flavour but it was a decent cup of coffee
- Atmosphere was nice, it's a good spot for respite from the busy-ness in town
- Good location!!
- they serve both alcohol and coffee, depending on what you need at 4pm i guess🤣
What I didn't like:
- sadly the food items I tried was not that inspiring. The corn riblets worked extra hard to compensate for the sad "happy bee fried chicken and gravy"
- i was seated at the bar seat so it was kind of awkward chatting with the bartender/staff standing nearby like: 🧍🏻😀
BUT i do want to also acknowledge that the whole team was so ready to quickly step up and apologise/ help us when there was a staff with questionable attitude. They actually waived the whole bill???? which was a shock to me because it was not that big of a deal for me😱
ANWS it's a decent spot to consider if you're wondering around town aimlessly and want to just sit in aircon with a drink and chat with friends!
... Read moreDuring my visit to the third floor of Design Orchard, I found that it truly offers a hidden gem away from the typical Orchard Road crowds. The open concept bar with lots of natural light creates a refreshing environment, making it an excellent place to relax in air-conditioning. What stood out was the versatility of the menu — whether you want a decent Krispy Kreme-style coffee or to unwind with glass pours of wines or creative cocktails like gin, vodka, and unique mixers such as black plum gin or clarified guava.
Though the food selections were limited, especially since I visited around 4pm when mains were not available, I appreciated the small bites like corn riblets and the "happy bee" fried chicken with gravy. While the chicken didn't quite hit the mark for me due to its floury texture and small serving size, the seasoning and overall flavor of the corn riblets helped balance things out. If you plan a visit, I’d recommend arriving slightly earlier if you want to explore the full food menu.
One little quirky aspect was sitting at the bar seat — it can feel a bit awkward chatting while the bartender and staff are nearby, but it also lends an intimate casual vibe. I was also impressed by the staff’s professionalism: when there was an issue with one staff member’s attitude, the whole team promptly apologized and even waived the bill, which was unexpected and demonstrated excellent customer service.
If you’re wandering around Orchard Road looking for a casual, comfortable spot to catch up with friends during the day or early evening, this place is worth considering. It’s great for a mini breather where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee or switch to a relaxing alcoholic beverage as the afternoon progresses. The combination of a good location, a relaxed environment, and attentive staff makes this a valuable find in the heart of downtown shopping hustle.
