yapping about what consumes most of my time

Work study students unite 😞

I thought what better way to deal with the hair-ripping stress of work-study other than yapping about it :D Like most work study students, I work a 9am-6pm job and attend class twice a week from 7pm-11pm.

I think I struggle the most with finding time and energy to study. The only time students like us get to study and do our assignments are non-school days after work, and lets be real, you are barely awake after work, and all that's in your mind is sleep. Perhaps that is just me, but it is a struggle and borderline anxiety inducing when I find myself behind lectures and only being able to do my assignments over the long-awaited weekend😮‍💨

Also the commute! Having your school being in the west is such a pain for students not living anywhere moderately close... The 2.5 hour commute makes me want to detour back home even before reaching school. Finding the motivation to go to school after a long day of work is, to say the least, painful. On a positive note, having good friends in uni sometimes helps :) When you share the same experience and struggles, being able to go to school to see your friends aids in providing some form of solace amidst the dread and exhaustion.

TLDR. Law school is exhausting... work is exhausting... combining both is slightly deadly...🙁

To all work-study students out there, hang in there and waddle through this. It will all come to pass and it will be worth it! And to all intending to do this, think twice and brace yourselves (I also emphasise on finding supportive employers ❤️)

"you chose this" - yah we know, but just let us yap a little :) #university #WorkLife #workstudy

... Read moreAs someone who has navigated the tough balancing act between a full-time job and part-time studies, I completely relate to the exhaustion and struggle described. One key strategy I found helpful was carving out small, consistent blocks of time dedicated solely to focused study—even just 30 minutes at a time made a difference. Using tools like planners or digital calendars helped me visualize my week and set achievable goals, preventing last-minute stress. Commutes, especially long ones, can indeed drain your energy and motivation. I tried to turn commute time into productive moments by listening to recorded lectures or audiobooks related to my coursework, so even that time contributed to my learning. It’s also crucial to acknowledge the mental toll and to prioritize mental health breaks when needed. Having a support system is invaluable; friends who understand your situation can be a source of motivation and emotional relief. I also suggest being upfront with employers about your school commitments. Finding a supportive employer who can offer flexible hours or understanding goes a long way in reducing work-study stress. Lastly, self-compassion is vital. Recognizing that struggling and feeling overwhelmed is normal helps lessen anxiety. Celebrate small victories and remind yourself that this intense period is temporary and will lead to rewarding outcomes. Staying resilient and seeking balance—rather than perfect efficiency—makes the journey more manageable and meaningful.

I'm a medical student and I used to work part time night shift 9pm to 6am. I enjoy my work and I view it as a break from my studies. Sadly clinical years take too much time and energy out of me so I can only work during my holidays. Jiayous! Feel free to pm if you wanna know what job this is.

24hrs a day is not enough for me ☠️
A day of juggling uni lectures and running a business… chaos but somehow it all works out. 24 hours a day never feels enough, I need more 😂 Jokes aside: it’s not about having more hours, it’s about making every hour count 🫶

Hello there, this week’s review is for the non-fiction, self-help lovers. 🤍 I picked up “The Almanack of Naval Ravikant” because I felt like I needed some drive and direction. This book made me rethink wealth and happiness. While Naval covers both, I’ll focus more on the happiness side here

We are not passive observers of our reality. Like it or not, we play a part in something, however small, in our small realities. If we do something, the ripple effects will take the outcome to be something. If we don’t do something, the outcome might be vastly different too. Likewise, in our mo

late night thoughts
Sometimes I wonder if I overthink life more than I actually live it. I catch myself running endless scenarios in my head, things that haven’t happened, things that probably never will. My brain doesn’t know how to rest. And recently, this got triggered by a girl in school. The funny thing is, I

Ever feel like your day runs you instead of the other way around? ⏰ Here’s the truth: schedule equals freedom. I used to struggle with this too. Now, I protect family time first, then block deep work, creative flow, and admin tasks. Short windows create long-term freedom, not restriction. Plan y
