yapping about what consumes most of my time
Work study students unite 😞
I thought what better way to deal with the hair-ripping stress of work-study other than yapping about it :D Like most work study students, I work a 9am-6pm job and attend class twice a week from 7pm-11pm.
I think I struggle the most with finding time and energy to study. The only time students like us get to study and do our assignments are non-school days after work, and lets be real, you are barely awake after work, and all that's in your mind is sleep. Perhaps that is just me, but it is a struggle and borderline anxiety inducing when I find myself behind lectures and only being able to do my assignments over the long-awaited weekend😮💨
Also the commute! Having your school being in the west is such a pain for students not living anywhere moderately close... The 2.5 hour commute makes me want to detour back home even before reaching school. Finding the motivation to go to school after a long day of work is, to say the least, painful. On a positive note, having good friends in uni sometimes helps :) When you share the same experience and struggles, being able to go to school to see your friends aids in providing some form of solace amidst the dread and exhaustion.
TLDR. Law school is exhausting... work is exhausting... combining both is slightly deadly...🙁
To all work-study students out there, hang in there and waddle through this. It will all come to pass and it will be worth it! And to all intending to do this, think twice and brace yourselves (I also emphasise on finding supportive employers ❤️)
"you chose this" - yah we know, but just let us yap a little :) #university #WorkLife #workstudy

I'm a medical student and I used to work part time night shift 9pm to 6am. I enjoy my work and I view it as a break from my studies. Sadly clinical years take too much time and energy out of me so I can only work during my holidays. Jiayous! Feel free to pm if you wanna know what job this is.
