I LOVE both of these lippies- Summer Fridays has been viral for years now so obviously she’s good. But to me the Olehenriksen pout preserve is sooo slept on!
Pricing: there isn’t much difference in price, Olehenriksen is cheaper but it contains a little bit less product
Formula: both of them are amazing, thick but not too sticky, shiny, hydrating. I prefer the pout preserve formula over the lip butter balm - personally I feel like it actually heals/hydrates my lips better!
Scents/shades: Summer Fridays has more of a variety and definitely yummier scents. Olehenriksen has 4 shades with a couple of seasonal ones out currently as well, but the shades they have all year are gorgeous!
Overall I think they are both amazing, I lean towards the pout preserve because of the way it makes my lips feel long term. Which do you prefer??
... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my initial thoughts on the OLEHENRIKSEN Pout Preserve vs. Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm showdown, but let's dive even deeper into why I'm so passionate about these two! I know many of you are looking for specific shade insights and how these truly perform beyond the basic comparison, so I'm here to spill all the tea.
First off, let's talk about the incredible range of swatches and what they really look like on the lips. For Summer Fridays, shades like iced coffee and brown sugar are perfect for that subtle, everyday nude tint that just enhances your natural lip color. Pink sugar gives a lovely, soft blush, while sweet mint is more about the refreshing feel than a noticeable color. I've also heard amazing things about their birthday cake and cherry swatch options, which add a fun pop if you're feeling adventurous. The key with Summer Fridays is often the strong, delicious scents and the light tints; they're fantastic for a sheer, glossy look.
Now, OLEHENRIKSEN's shades are a bit different. I'm obsessed with creme brulee – it's such a comforting, warm nude that just glides on beautifully. Then there's blood orange spritz and citrus sunshine, which give a more vibrant, juicy tint. These definitely offer darker tints compared to Summer Fridays. I've found that the grape fizz shade also offers a unique, richer color if you're looking for something bolder without being overwhelming. The scents are more subtle here, which some people prefer, but the color payoff can be surprisingly good for a balm.
Beyond just the color, let's talk about the experience of wearing them. While both are hydrating, I really wanted to elaborate on why the OLEHENRIKSEN Pout Preserve feels like it actually heals my lips. I struggle with dryness, especially in changing weather, and after consistent use, my lips just feel softer and less chapped overall. It's like a treatment disguised as a gloss. The 0.4 oz might be slightly less product than Summer Fridays' 0.5 oz, but a little goes a long way, and the long-term benefits are what sell me.
The texture is another big factor. Summer Fridays gives you that perfect, non-sticky shine, and it feels luxurious. It's fantastic for everyday wear, adding a plump, healthy look. However, if your lips are truly suffering, the OLEHENRIKSEN just has that extra oomph. It feels a tiny bit thicker, almost like a protective barrier, without being heavy or uncomfortable. I've even noticed that when I use OLEHENRIKSEN, I don't feel the need to reapply as often throughout the day for hydration, though I might for the glossy look.
Regarding application, both come in easy-to-use squeeze tubes. I appreciate the simplicity for on-the-go touch-ups. Summer Fridays' packaging often feels a bit more 'fun' with its aesthetic, but OLEHENRIKSEN's is sleek and functional.
So, if you're still on the fence:
Choose Summer Fridays if you prioritize delicious, strong scents, lighter tints, and a wide variety of fun shades for a luscious, glossy look. It's your go-to for a perfect everyday shine and subtle color.
Go for OLEHENRIKSEN if you're battling dry, chapped lips and want something that genuinely feels like it's improving their condition long-term, offering subtle scents but richer, more impactful tints in its core range.
Ultimately, both are fantastic products, and your choice will come down to your personal priorities for scent, tint, and lip healing power. I hope this deeper dive helps you decide which lip balm will be your next holy grail!
Ole henriksen is better to me! But I love both
